Never assume a package can be shared
Royal Caribbean describes beverage packages as for one guest and not shareable. NCL promotion terms likewise say package benefits are personal and non-transferable. Virgin Voyages uses a different Bar Tab credit model and says that credit may be shared, which shows why a universal rule would be misleading.
Compare four totals
- Cabin fare, taxes and required charges for each traveler.
- Required or selected beverage benefits for each person on the reservation.
- Wi-Fi tier, number of devices and whether simultaneous connections matter.
- Cancellation or rebooking terms for the add-on and the underlying fare.
Use the checkout total and current terms, not a blog's historical price. Promotions and package names change frequently.
Plan for different habits
One traveler may need work-capable internet while the other only needs messaging. One may drink alcohol while the other does not. If the booking engine applies a package to additional cabin occupants, ask the cruise line whether an exception or alternative is available before paying; do not expect onboard staff to reverse the rule.
Keep access private
Do not share account passwords, payment cards or identity details with a cabin mate. Record any jointly approved credit in writing and review the onboard account during the sailing instead of waiting until disembarkation.
